JOIN A PROTEST :

In many of the major metropolitan areas in North America, Europe and Asia, the Tibetan communities and supporters are already gearing up for the Tibetan Uprising Day on March 10th. Below are some of the locations, times and contact info of protests that we know are taking place.


CANADA:

Toronto:

9:30 am: March from Queen's Park to Canadian Olympics Committee office to Chinese Consulate.

We will be Marching from Olympic Plaza 218 7 Avenue Southeast, Calgary, Alberta to The Chinese Consulate SUITE 100 , 1011-6TH AVE., S.W. , CALGARY , ALBERTA , CANADA , T2P 0W1

4:00 pm: Starting at the Olympic Plaza to be at the Chinese Consulate for 5:15 and at the Chinese Consulate for the remainder of the demonstration.

Busses to Ottawa (there is no Chinese mission in Montreal)

8:00 am: Monday, March 10th 2008, the departure will be held at Terminus/Métro Longueuil, exit on de Sévigny. Then, the same buses will reach at 8:30am the corner of Queen Mary and Décarie (Snowdon Métro).
We will leave early, and arrive in Ottawa around lunch time. It is strongly recommended that you bring a lunch to eat on the bus and snacks. We will protest from 11:45am to 3:30pm (approximately). It would be appreciated that you bring Tibetan Flags, signs…
About the cost of the bus, it is a voluntary contribution to cover transportation costs which are assumed by Canada Tibet Committee We will leave Ottawa around 3:30pm and we will be back around 6:30pm in Montreal.

UNITED KINGDOM:

 London:

10.30 am: Protestors will assemble opposite the Chinese embassy, 49-51 Portland Place W1 on Sat March 8. The march will start at 11:00 am: and will lead down Regent Street, through Piccadilly Circus, down
Haymarket, across Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall. After delivery of
the petition to 10 Downing Street the March will swing through
Parliament Square and end on Palace St SW1 where a rally will take place. Time of rally approx: 12:30-1pm.

2.30 pm: A cultural event will take place at Westminster Cathedral Hall
(Ambrosden Avenue), SW1 from. The day’s events are organised
jointly by the Tibetan Community in the UK, Tibetan Youth in UK,
Students for a Free Tibet, the Tibet Society and Free Tibet Campaign.

Talk & Tribute Concert; Saturday 8th March:

7:00 pm: At this unique event in London the six members of the "Drapchi 14" now in exile, who between them spent 71 years in prison, will speak of their time in prison, their exile from Tibet, their continuing struggle for freedomfor their homeland, and will sing some of their freedom songs originally sung in prison in 1993. The evening will also include a tribute concert to the "Drapchi 14" by UK-based Tibetan artistes. The reunion will also mark the 10th anniversary of protests inside Drapchi Prison in 1998, after
which five nun inmates died as a result of beatings and maltreatment at the hands of the prison authorities.
